What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. There are dozens of types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities).

People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons – to reduce stress and anxiety, relax muscles, rehabilitate injuries, reduce pain, and promote overall health and wellness. At Center for Health & Healing our Certified Massage Therapist, Nancy, will learn more about problems areas and will be able to recommend a massage therapy plan.

Types of massage therapy

A must have if you are one of millions who suffer from migraines or headaches due to stress or pollen. A light-touch method is used to restore proper function and flow of fluids.

Oncology Massage:
Research shows that massage has astounding therapeutic value, and that’s equally true for its use with cancer patients.

Oncology Massage can assist pre- or post-operative period, during chemotherapy and radiation, recovery and most assuredly remission times.

Possible benefits include: Reduction of stress, fatigue, nausea and anxiety, as well as improved sleep and pain relief.

Our therapist has received her course completion through Tracy Walton and Associates to be able to provide the utmost care while servicing those on their healing path through cancer.
Rate: $60 (HR)

Lymphatic Drainage Massage:
Lymphatic Massage promotes healthy lymph drainage using gentle pressure and specific hand movements to alleviate swelling and the pain associated with it. Although Lymphatic Massage is primarily indicated for lymphedema management, it is also indicated to assist in the healing process from surgeries and injuries, assist the body in removing fluids associated with sinusitis, bronchitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis and assist in pain management for those suffering with fibromyalgia.

Our therapist has received her Manual Lymphatic Drainage Certification through Vodder.

Prenatal Massage:
Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pain, regulate hormone levels, reduce swelling/edema, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.

Swedish Massage techniques are used as it aims to relax muscle tension and improve lymphatic flow through mild pressure and addresses many common discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormone shifts.

Swedish Massage:
Swedish Massage uses longer strides with gentle kneading to ease muscles back to optimal health tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system to facilitate optimal relaxation and muscle recovery.

Deep Tissue and Sports Massage:
Designed to address and assist with restoring muscles back to their normal range of motion, assist with muscular pain relief and decrease muscle tension.

Deep Tissue utilizes many of the same techniques as Swedish Massage only the pressure will be more intense as it is more focused on releasing chronic muscle knots and adhesions.

Sports Massage works deep to eliminate toxins embedded in muscle fibers, remove adhesions, and minimize scar tissue buildup. Range of motion is restored through muscle lengthening.

Integrative Massage Session:
This session addresses and targets the needs of each muscle group using Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage techniques while incorporating stretching and range of motion movements to facilitate muscle restoration.
